"As a retired Navy SEAL and Military Working Dog Handler, I’ve lived through some of the most intense and traumatic experiences imaginable. From losing my K9 partner Ranger in combat, to suffering severe injuries alongside Malikai in Kandahar, and enduring the long-term effects of PTSD and Type 1 diabetes, my life has been shaped by service, sacrifice, and survival.
For years, I tried everything to manage the weight of my trauma—alcohol, therapy, group sessions, and the unwavering support of my late wife Lisa and my beloved service dog Malikai. They were my anchors, helping me hold on when the pain felt unbearable. Yet, despite their love and my own resilience, the triggers, panic attacks, and nightmares persisted. I wore a smile, but inside, I was still fighting a war.
That changed when I was introduced to Healing the Hero through a veterans podcast. The protocol developed by Dan Jarvis, and the compassionate guidance of Tammy Laird, brought me to a breakthrough I never thought possible. In just two sessions, my triggers were gone—not buried or ignored, but transformed. They became memories I could reflect on, learn from, and even feel proud of.
This experience didn’t just treat my PTSD—it redefined it. It gave me the ability to see the lessons behind the trauma, to reclaim my story, and to honor the warrior within me without being haunted by the past. For someone who has lived through the loss of comrades, the pain of injury, and the grief of losing both a spouse and a service dog, this healing is nothing short of life-changing.
Healing the Hero has given me peace, clarity, and a renewed sense of purpose. I now advocate not only for veterans and military working dogs, but also for this transformative protocol that has helped me reclaim my life.
To my fellow veterans: If you’re struggling silently, please know there is hope.Healing the Hero is unlike anything I’ve tried before. It’s not just therapy—it’s transformation. You owe it to yourself to explore this. You’ve carried the weight long enough. Let this be the moment you begin to heal.

"After over four years living in constant fight-or-flight, I hit a wall—hard. My sleep vanished, I was running on fumes, snapping at people I love, and dragging through each day completely drained. To make it worse, old symptoms from a past traumatic brain injury started creeping back in, and I felt totally unmoored.
Then I had one session with Dan.
And everything changed.
For the first time in weeks, my nervous system finally calmed down. That night, I slept all the way through. It felt like my entire body finally got permission to breathe again. Dan’s approach didn’t just scratch the surface—it went deep, unlocking something I didn’t even realize was stuck.
I’m beyond grateful. Truly."
Posted Anonymously, Military Spouse & Licensed Professional Counselor."I want to take a moment and let you know of the success I have had using your Trauma Resiliency Protocol (TRP) and emotions work with the Emotions Management Process (EMP).
It has been a little over two years since I took the training. Since that time I have employed it close to 2,000 times in sessions.
My client base is comprised mostly of active duty military, former military and First responders. I also work with a small number of others who have substantial trauma in different settings.
For 95% or more of these folks, their SUDS (Subjective Units of Distress) dropped significantly. At the end of the sessions they describe feeling “lighter” and “able to think clearer.” They also add that they re not as reactive to triggers that formerly would have them out of control.
On follow up sessions the vast majority say that they are “in a good place” and need no additional sessions.
I can’t thank you enough for making this therapy available to me and others, and I pray that you continue with this valuable, life saving work.
Sincerely and with great admiration."
