Staff Sergeant Andrew Bruce Stewart was a United States Marine—an infantryman who chose a path few are willing to walk, and who served with honor, discipline, and unwavering commitment to his country.
After graduating from Soda Springs High School in 2017, Andrew answered the call to serve and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Over the next five years, he became a Combat Marine (0311 Rifleman), operating in one of the most demanding roles in the military—where mission, brotherhood, and performance under pressure define the standard.
Andrew’s service reflected excellence.
He earned designation as a Marine Corps Security Force Guard, completed advanced Security Force training, and served in critical roles requiring precision, trust, and readiness at all times. His performance was recognized through multiple distinctions, including the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, and both the Expert Rifle Qualification Badge and Expert Pistol Qualification Badge—marks of a Marine who mastered his craft.
Andrew also supported Operation Allies Refuge, contributing to the mission during a critical moment in recent military history—standing in the gap when it mattered most.
Through consistent leadership, professionalism, and respect from his peers, Andrew rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant—a position that carries responsibility not only for mission success, but for the Marines entrusted under his leadership. Within his unit, he was known as dependable, disciplined, and committed to those beside him.
He served from August 14, 2017 to August 14, 2022—five years of honorable active duty service to the United States of America.
On December 12, 2024 Andrew died by suicide, a tragic result of PTSD and the withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 at Abbey Gate.
