Hunter Chase Whitley

Hunter Chase Whitley answered the call to serve his country in 2018, earning the title United States Marine at Parris Island before completing infantry training at Camp Geiger. He was assigned to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, Charlie Company, 1st Platoon, based out of Camp Lejeune.

In February 2021, Hunter deployed with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, operating across multiple regions in support of forward presence and contingency operations. Near the end of that deployment, his unit was rapidly redirected to Kabul, Afghanistan, in support of the U.S. withdrawal during Operation Allies Refuge.

There, in one of the most intense and chaotic environments of the war’s final chapter, Hunter stood the line alongside his fellow Marines. He played a direct role in securing evacuation operations, contributing to the safe passage of thousands of Afghan civilians seeking freedom. His actions reflected the highest standards of the Marine Corps—discipline under pressure, commitment to mission, and unwavering service to others.

Hunter was honorably discharged in July 2022.

His legacy is one of service in a defining moment of modern warfare—standing firm in uncertainty, protecting others in chaos, and carrying out the mission when the world was watching.
