Daniel Evans

Daniel Allen Evans was born on August 3, 1981, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and grew up in Carthage, NC with his parents Danny Evans and Pamela Evans. He lived a life rooted in service, integrity, and love for others. Daniel volunteered with the Whispering Pines NC Fire Department, served as a firefighter in Fayetteville NC and Pinehurst, NC and later became an airborne infantryman in the United States Army, deploying to Afghanistan.

He graduated from North Carolina State University and worked as a contractor after moving to Pennsylvania in 2019. In 2007, Daniel met his wife, Meagan Greygor, and they were married in 2019. 

Daniel loved the outdoors adventure, his dog and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is remembered as a devoted husband, a loving son, and a man who lived to help and serve others. He had a sweet soul and suffered silently with his PTSD. 

He was miserable. He tried to do all the right things and the system failed him multiple times, until he gave up. The VA prescribed him multiple medications prior to the time of his death. He didn’t have the knowledge to help himself with the triggers of his military experience. 
But beneath the mask he put on for his family, all was not well. Daniel would imply to his family that everything was fine, but in reality, he was struggling to cope with the pain he felt from his military service. On January 3, 2020 he took his life. September 1, 2019 Four months before this his family watched him marry the love of his life. As a mother who would do anything for her child I couldn’t save him and his wife couldn’t either. It was a beautiful wedding on grandfather mountain in Boone NC. You would have thought he was happy.
