Andrew Thomas Karels – Amboy Fire Department

With heavy hearts, we honor the Line of Duty Death of Firefighter Andrew Thomas Karels, 35, of Amboy, Minnesota, on June 2, 2025.

A proud Sergeant in the Army National Guard (2007–2014), Andrew served his country before dedicating his life to his family, faith, and community. After returning from Kuwait, he married his childhood love, Morgan, and together they raised their children, Corbin and Evie—his greatest pride and joy.

Andrew was a man of deep faith, a devoted husband and father, and a servant-leader. He worked in farming and construction, served as Medical Officer for the Amboy Fire Department—earning the Lifesaver Award—and supported others through EMS training across South Central Minnesota. He also served faithfully as treasurer of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Known for his love of the outdoors and his unwavering joy—often greeting his family with “I love YOU!”—Andrew lived a life of purpose, service, and love.

He is survived by his wife, Morgan; children, Corbin and Evie; parents, Gina and Ron Meyer; sister, Elizabeth; extended family, and countless friends.

Andrew was welcomed into heaven by loved ones who went before him and the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Andrew Karels death was ruled as a suicide and considered a line of duty death in Minnissotta.
