Dan Jarvis, US Army
Sergeant First Class retired. Bachelor of Arts degree in criminology and Master of Science in Public Administration.
Dan Jarvis is a U.S. Army combat veteran, former Deputy Sheriff, and founder of Healing the Hero, a nonprofit Christian ministry devoted to ending the cycle of trauma and suicide among veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families.
Born into a Navy family, Dan’s life of service started early and spanned two wars. He led combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan as an Infantry Squad Leader, earning a Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart. Later, as a U.S. Army Drill Sergeant, he shaped civilians into Soldiers. Yet Dan’s fiercest battle came after the uniform came off — confronting PTSD, survivor’s guilt, and depression that nearly claimed his life.
Frustrated with conventional therapies that failed many warriors, Dan co-founded 22ZERO with his ex-wife Dr. Gwinnell Brant in April 2018, where he developed the Trauma Resiliency Protocol (TRP) and Emotions Management Process (EMP) — pioneering methods designed to neutralize trauma without reliving it. These breakthroughs have helped thousands reclaim their lives. These methods are now patent pending. Dan resigned from 22ZERO in 2023.
In 2024, Dan launched Healing the Hero to continue this mission, combining peer-driven support with faith-integrated healing through his latest innovation — the Trauma Resiliency Protocol–Peer Rescue (TRP-PR) and the Jesus Protocol. These 9-line protocols diffuse trauma triggers and negative emotions in minutes and are now being scientifically validated through qEEG brain scans and heart rate variability research at Arizona State University with first responders, veterans and active-duty military.
Through his leadership, Healing the Hero is shaping national initiatives, including an upcoming study on corrections officers at the Cook County Jail — the largest and one of the most challenging correctional facilities in America — aiming to reverse the devastating mental health crisis among law enforcement. San Diego State University will publish this study with an Institutional Review Board with Dr. Trejbalova as the primary investigator.

A Message from Dan
“Healing is possible. I know, because I’ve lived it. Every hero deserves the chance to heal — fully, freely, and forever.”
Arizona State University Pilot Study on Trauma Recovery in Law Enforcement was published in 2024 from Dan’s work at 22ZERO and his proprietary methods pending patent approval with the USPTO.
Study Overview:
Arizona State University (ASU) conducted a pilot study utilizing outcome data collected by 22Zero, focusing on the mental health of 128 current and former law enforcement officers. Participants underwent interventions using the Trauma Resiliency Protocol (TRP) for PTSD and Emotions Management Process (EMP) — innovative, peer-delivered methods designed to resolve negative emotions and PTSD rapidly and without re-traumatization.
Key Findings:
- Sample Size: 128 participants (active and retired law enforcement)
- Assessment Areas: PTSD, anxiety, and depression
- Results:
- Statistically significant reductions in PTSD symptom severity
- Significant decreases in anxiety and depression levels
- Rapid symptom resolution, often within 1–3 sessions
- Intervention Features: Non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical, and non-exposure based
- Delivery Method: Peer-to-peer coaching
Significance:
This study validates a new model of trauma recovery that addresses the unique needs of law enforcement professionals — a community often resistant to traditional mental health approaches. The findings support a scalable, rapid-response solution to a growing mental health crisis, with outcomes far surpassing conventional therapy timelines.
Future Directions:
- Expanded Research: Further studies underway targeting veterans and first responders.
- Objective Validation: New collaborations using qEEG brain scans and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) to document physiological changes in trauma recovery.
- Organizational Application: Healing the Hero and Tactical Resiliency USA are integrating these validated protocols into national initiatives, including upcoming studies with corrections officers at Cook County Jail.
Conclusion:
The ASU pilot study provides compelling evidence that trauma can be effectively and efficiently resolved outside traditional clinical settings — offering renewed hope to America’s heroes.
ASU will be publishing an additional study of the Trauma Resiliency Protocol-Peer Rescue (TRP-PR) the data measured and evaluated will be from the qEEG objective data, and subjective PCL5, GAD7, PHQ9 and ACES.
MAZE

Maze is Dan’s service dog, he inherited her in 2021 when Jared Hill a US Navy Iraq war veteran died by suicide at the age of 33.
Dan picked up Maze at Jared’s funeral where her emotions were extremely visible, she wouldn’t eat or drink for 3 days but they soon bonded and the rest is history.
Dan is now Maze’s service human and she is reportedly the best battle buddy one could have, Every time Dan see’s her he thinks of Jared and sees how critical the mission is, Healing the Hero is a no fail mission.
We lose 22 men and women a day like Jared, something must change, that change is the narrative, PTSD can heal FULL STOP!
